How Do I Know Whether to Use a Thin Tube or a Thick Tube with My Hearing Aid?

The thick tube is designed for people who have a moderately severe to profound hearing loss. The thicker the tube, the more sound you will receive through the tube. If you just have mild to moderate hearing loss, the thick tube may make the sounds around you too loud.

The thin tube is more discreet and is ideal for people who have mild to moderately severe high-frequency hearing loss.

How Do I Know Which Dome to Use with My Hearing Aid?

Domes come in a variety of sizes and shapes to fit different ear canals and levels of hearing loss.

If your hearing loss is severe, you'll likely want to use a closed dome. If your hearing loss level is mild to moderately severe, you may want to try an open dome instead. To understand why the open and closed domes offer different hearing experiences, read our article: What is the Difference Between an Open and Closed Hearing Aid Dome?

Ideally, you will try several different sizes and styles of domes to see which one works best for you and feels the most comfortable.
