We do not advise that you buy used hearing aids. Since hearing aids can be expensive, often $6,000 or more, it may be tempting to purchase a used pair. However, there are several problems with purchasing used hearing aids. While we do sell some refurbished products, these are lightly used and have been reconditioned to appear almost indistinguishable from new hearing aids. That being said, we do not buy used hearing aids from our customers, and here’s why.

You've probably seen advertisements for very low-priced personal sound amplification products (PSAPs) online or in your local pharmacy. However, we want to stress that there are differences between sound amplifiers and hearing aids, and those differences are important to your hearing health.

Hearing aids range in price from as low as $10 to as high as $8,000 if you go to a local provider. The difference in prices is due to cost to seller, the hearing aid model, and the hearing aid's features.

In a recent paper published in The Hearing Review, there was a bombshell released. Author Sergei Kochkin, Ph.D. released a whole host of information regarding direct-mail hearing aids and traditionally bought (audiologist office) hearing aids and how their overall satisfaction rates. While the entire article warrants reading, the long and the short of it is that direct mail hearing aid satisfaction is almost indistinguishable between direct mail purchased and traditionally purchased aids.
